About Parents First Days™

The Standard Behind Parents First Days™

Our Story

Filling a Gap That Mattered

Parents First Days™ was born from a simple observation: families need support most during the immediate postpartum period, yet the options available to them are often too long, too expensive, or simply too much. There has always been a gap between hospital discharge and long-term care a gap that has historically been overlooked.

We exist to fill that gap with intention, structure, and expertise. Not a month-long commitment. Not an overwhelming contract. Just the right support, at the right time, delivered by the right people.

You brought your baby home.
And now it's just you...

The hospital monitors are gone. The nurses are gone. The sense that someone who knew what they were doing was always nearby   gone. What's left is a baby who needs everything, a body that's been through something extraordinary, and a quiet house that suddenly feels very loud.

This is the part nobody fully prepares you for. And it's the part we were built for. Parents First Days exists for the first hours and days after hospital discharge   when the need is highest and the support is thinnest. We put a certified, warm, deeply skilled specialist in your home, so those first days feel manageable instead of overwhelming. Not because you can't do this. Because you shouldn't have to do it alone.

What is “Parents First Days?”

Parents First Days is a short-term, in-home newborn care service that places a Newborn Care Specialist in your home during the most critical window after hospital discharge,  your first 3 to 14 days home with a new baby.

We are not a long-term agency placement. We are not a drop-in service. We are structured, intentional, premium support designed for families who want expert guidance during the transition that matters most.

Every specialist arrives with a plan. Every shift is purposeful. Every family leaves the experience feeling more capable, more rested, and more confident than they arrived.

Filling the Gap That Mattered

There has always been a gap between hospital discharge and long-term care. Too many families walked out of the maternity ward into days that felt impossible not because they lacked love or ability, but because they lacked the right support at the right time.

Parents First Days was built to close that gap with intention, structure, and expertise. Not a month-long commitment. Not an overwhelming contract. Just the right care, exactly when it is needed most.

This Is Not Just Overnight Help

We want to be clear about what Parents First Days is and what it is not. This is not a night nurse who shows up, takes the baby, and hands her back in the morning. This is not passive care where someone else handles the baby while you remain in the dark about what is actually happening.

A Parents First Days specialist arrives with structure, intention, and a plan built around your family. She teaches while she works. She documents. She communicates. She is not just holding the baby she is teaming up with you to  setting the foundation for how your household will function, what your baby's rhythms will look like, and how confidently you will parent when she leaves.

The difference is not just what we do. It is how we do it  and what you are left with when it is over.

MEET THE FOUNDER

Ruka Curate

Sleep Consultant ·  Newborn Care Specialist ·  Founder, Parents First Days

Ruka Curate is a Sleep Consultant and Newborn Care Specialist with over 20 years of experience supporting families through life's biggest transitions. She holds a background in biochemistry and neuroscience   a foundation that informs both the science-backed approach of her work and the standard she holds every specialist to.

She is the founder of Pro Newborn Care, a nationally recognized Newborn Care Specialist training program, and the owner of Tiny Treasures Nanny Agency and Avery Indigo, two of the country's leading household staffing agencies. She is also the co-founder of Sable Circle, a premium elder care concierge service launching Winter 2027.

What makes Ruka's standard different from most: she has never left the work. She is still an active Newborn Care Specialist. The families who hire through Parents First Days are not receiving care designed by someone disconnected from the realities on newborn care, they are receiving care built by someone who is still in it. Ruka wants to support families from the beginning to the golden years of life.

"I built Parents First Days because I kept watching families call us when they go home from the hospital and immediately feel underwater. However, traditional newborn care support is weeks of support booked months before. Making the hiring someone for a few days to 2 weeks impossible. Families are not look for care because they weren't capable   but because as a new parent, you don’t know what you don’t know. I knew there had to be a better way, for every kind of family."

What It Feels Like When She Arrives

Within the first hour, something in the house shifts.

The baby is settled not because they stopped being a newborn, but because someone who has held several newborns is holding yours. Your questions stop feeling like emergencies. Your partner exhales. You realize you haven't actually sat down in three days, and now for the first time you can.

A Parents First Days specialist does not just take over. She brings a calm that spreads through your home. You stop guessing. You stop Googling at 2am. You start sleeping   really sleeping because someone competent is awake so you don't have to be. By the time the package ends, your home has a rhythm. Your baby has routines. And you have something that no amount of advice could give you: real, hard-earned confidence in your own ability to parent.

Your Specialist Is Chosen for You Not Just Assigned

Every family receives a specialist matched specifically to their situation not whoever happens to be available. We consider your delivery type, feeding method, home setup, family structure, any special concerns, and the kind of presence you are looking for.

We designed this process to feel aligned and comfortable from the very start because the last thing you need in those early days is uncertainty about the person in your home.

We support a small number of families each month by design

Parents First Days is not a high-volume operation. Every match is made thoughtfully. Every family is a priority. We limit the number of families we support at any given time to ensure that our standards remain exactly what we built them to be.

If you are considering care, we recommend reaching out before your due date. Our most requested windows especially in New York fill early.
