How do I prepare for my specialist's arrival?

The honest answer: less than you think. Your specialist arrives ready to work and will not expect the house to be perfect or every item to be purchased. That said, a few things will make the first shift smoother for everyone.

Before her first shift, it helps to have:
•  A safe sleep surface set up in the room where baby will sleep   a crib, bassinet, or pack-n-play with a firm, flat mattress and a fitted sheet. No loose bedding.
•  Diapers, wipes, and a changing area stocked and accessible.
•  Feeding supplies ready   bottles, formula if using, a breast pump if pumping, storage bags.
•  A comfortable resting space for her in or near the baby's room for overnight packages   she will rest during baby's longest sleep window.
•  Your completed intake form. The more detail you give us about your delivery, feeding preferences, family situation, and specific concerns, the better your match will be.

What you do not need to do:
You do not need to have everything figured out. You do not need a perfect nursery. You do not need to know what questions to ask. That is exactly what she is there for. Show up as you are   she will meet you there.

Can I extend my care beyond my package?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Families who want to continue care beyond their initial package can do so through our Extended Care program   directly with Parents First Days, with the same specialist when available, in additional week-long blocks. Extended Care is available up to 16 weeks postpartum. This is not a referral to another agency. It is a continuation of your existing care   same standard, same team, same level of expertise. When should I book?

Accepted Answer

We recommend booking after your 20-24 week anatomy scan. By that point, your baby's health is confirmed and your due date is set   you have everything you need to plan your care with confidence. Most families who wait until the third trimester find that the best windows are already claimed. Booking early does not mean locking in every detail now. A deposit holds your spot. The rest   shift preferences, feeding plans, any specific concerns   can be finalized as your due date gets closer. If you are already in the third trimester, reach out anyway. We will do our best to accommodate you and will be honest with you about availability.
